Swallow’s Nest 

  Swallow’s nest is a decorative castle located on the Crimean Pennisula, located at Gaspra, between Yalta and Alupka. The castle was built in the early twentieth century. Swallow’s Nest is one of the most famous castle of Crimea, popular tourist attraction and architectural achievement, Situated on the steep cliff right over the sea, it has become the symbol of the South coast of Crimea and was featured in several Soviet films. Swallow’s Nest castle perches 130 feet (40 meter) above the Black Sea, The building is compact in size, it is 12 metres high, measuring only 20 m (66 Jong by 10 m (33 ft) wide, there are only two floors, just a few rooms (hall living-room, two bedrooms, now converted into an Italian restaurant.

To get to the two levels there is a stairway and higher up there is a tower to look out from

castle built for Baltic German oil millionaire Baron von Steingel and Russian architect Leonid Sherwood was commissioned by Steingel to build the scenic Neo-Gothic Imperial masterpiece in Gaspra to serve as a summer residence.
