Mini Taj Mahal : Aurangabad, India

     You will be surprised to know that there are two Taj Mahals in India. Mini Taj Mahal is a Replica also known as Bibi ka Maqbara. Mini Taj Mahal is located in Aurangabad India. This is a Maqbara known as Bibi ka Maqbara (tomb of the lady) and due ot its striking resemblance ot the famous Taj Mahal its also called Dakkhani Taj. “Travesty of the Taj,” is another name to Bibi Ka Maqbara. This is also called Poor Man’s Taj Mahal, because unlike the original (which is made entirely of white marble), It is made of sand stone, except for its dome. Its smaller in scale compare to original Taj mahal. It was commissioned by the sixth Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in the late 17th century in the memory of his first wife, Dilras Banu Begum. Bibi ka Maqbara is believed to be built between 1651 and 1661 C.E. Some also claim that this was made by Azam Shah in the memories of his mother Rabbia Durrani. This Tomb is not very well known and famous, though Aurangabad is famous for Ajanta and Ellora Caves. The Bibi Ka Maqbara was the largest structure that he had constructed during his life time. Its layout is same as Tal mahal. you will be complimenting the artwork and the cravings of the walls. The grave is enclosed by an octagon of perforated marble screens. The main entrance of the complex is huge and you will see some excellent craving on the surface. Well maintained garden is located both sides of the main complex. The garden is enclosed by high crenelated walls with fortress set at intervals, and open pavilions on three sides. The chamber above is a high square structure presenting identical You fagades on four sides. Each is dominated by a lofty portal with a pointed archBehind the tomb is located a small archeological museum.


       you will have to buy ticket (nominal fees) to enter the area and you will need to remove shoes outside of the main area. Located within 3 km of Aurangabad city. Located at a distance of about 5 km to from Aurangabad Bus Stand and 8 km from Railway Station. Open till 6pm. Eatables are not allowed inside. if you are in the Area and visiting Ajanta caves, this Taj mahal is worth to visit. crowd is very less as compare to original taj.
