Construction of the Buci Khalifa was started on 6 January 2004 and its named for Sheikh Khalifa. During construction is was known as Burj Dubai to the honour the president of emirate of Abu Zaby, Sheikh Khalifah ibn Zayid. It is part of a construcioto of a Down town Dubai development. It was designed by the architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill which was Chicago-based. Adrian Smith as architect, and William F. Baker as structural engineer.it costed US 1.5 Billion. Buri Khalifa was completed on 1″ October 2009 and opened on 4 January 2010. Bur. Khalifa is Owned by Emaac Properties.
